They're both around the same age and it could happen in the next few years. Torrez is fighting cans, while Dubois fought the best fighters in the division and beat most of them. Let me know when Torrez fights a top 15 fighter.
Agreed, I thought on his win streak he had improved ,especially the Joshua fight but against Usyk I thought he regressed and looked awful.
In beating Hrgovic to legitimize what was an e-mail title, and then beating Joshua, who has a significant legacy in the sport, Dubois has already guaranteed that he will be remembered. People can dump on him as they will. If he wants to add to those accomplishments, he has plenty of time. Just no more Usyk fights.
I think Dubious can KO a lot of people but is a quitter, and isn't very tough for a 'champion'. That means anyone who can weather the bombs can probably grind him down. Or if they have a big punch, KO him properly. For instance, it wouldn't surprise me if AJ beat him in a rematch if he doesn't get caught early. But it doesn't mean Dubious isn't dangerous which he obviously is. Let's make it simple. If you get KO'd by Usyk twice at HW, as a big HW, there is something wrong with you. Either you have bad punch resistance or you are a quitter, or a bit of both. But just because there's something wrong with him it doesn't mean he can't KO plenty of opponents.
I think a big part of it is he had 2 losses before he became a champ and he flipped the script with the Hrgovic and Joshua wins. A lot of the praise he was getting was based on the possibility he'd developed into the best HW. And the Usyk rematch suggests that wasn't the case. Now you wonder if Hrgovic would win a rematch and if others could have beaten AJ in Dubois's place if they'd gotten that chance. In this era fans do not forgive clear losses no matter who they are against. Every loss is treated as a referendum on whether a fighter is "for real". Unless they are Derek Chisora. There might be no shame in losing to Usyk. But Dubois is the only title opponent Usyk has KO'd at HW and hes done it twice now. Usyks lost 26 rounds at HW. 2 of them are to Dubois.
Lol gervonta davis would probably argue that you can. At least when grease from your hair bothers you. 'i'll take a short break, just stay there for a moment'
He did quit vs Joe Joyce, no one can say otherwise. Fight was in the balance on the cards and he quit. I’ve no issue with the last fight, he didn’t quit imo, just got caught with a cracking shot
For all intents and purposes Fury got KOed by usyk. These are heavyweights and they can punch. No shame getting knocked out by a clean heavyweight punch. Usyk isn’t pillow fisted
