While I think Lyle “sucked” sometimes people just have different opinions, I’ll credit @Seamus much as I disagree with on him a lot of stuff as absolutely knowing his boxing - Eddie Futch was wrong at times, much as he knew, he just had a MUCH more educated GUESS.

lol eyes are still good. Try watching whole fights instead of highlight reels. You may learn something.
Marciano would beat Lyle. He'd be too dynamic and unorthodox for him. Lyle would struggle to hit him clean.
The man who emerged victorious trading blows with the devastating puncher Shavers and the similarly rugged Diet-Rocky, Bonavena has the credentials to pull an upset here. Rocky has zero wins over a fearless, quality opponent this size whose got power in both hands. Lyle walks through fire, potentially getting dropped en route to a 9th round TKO stopping Rocky in a thrilling war. Rocky is down with a face covered in blood and the ref has seen enough after Lyle splatters a red mist in the air after landing a powerful sweeping right hand.
Rocky Marciano digs deep in this. Then deeper. Then still deeper. To depths seldom seen by mortals. First he strikes oil. Then he strikes magic oil. Ron Lyle is defeated. How did the Rock do it? Opinions vary. Oh the mysteries of boxing!
This isn’t even a hard fight. Marciano loves guys like Lyle, Ingo, Layne. Guys who will stand in front of him not move and trade. It’s a dream come true. He almost came out of retirement because he thought Ingo was easy pickings. Lyle didn’t have the stamina or footwork to keep up. Styles make fights.
Lyle way too big and powerful. This would be similar to a Frazier Foreman or Patterson Liston. The little slugger who only knows to attack but is just too small to stand up to the bigger much more powerful guy.
