Cus was going to keep Patterson at 175 for 2 more years if Marciano had not retired. That sums it up for me.

  2. it is a very good point, damato was one of the most intelligent trainers ever. he avoided liston because he knew that styles make fights. but still i think that patterson might beat marciano in 1956, of course rocky might finish the fight with a single punch, but if floyd fight smartly he might outbox rocky, and patterson might hurt rocky, floyd was harder puncher than walcott, so he might hurt rocky too. in skill terms patterson was better than marciano by a mile. patterson in his prime was much better than many people think, he is seriously underrated

I think Walcott had harder punch, patterson had fast hands, and could occaionally come up with big blow, but he needed to have oppenent really set up for it. Johanson ko is one that comes to mind.

I think if Patterson did hurt Rocky it would not stop him, but if Rocky hurt Patterson it would be over.

What happens to teenage Floyd when he gets hit on the chin by a more experienced ATG undefeated champion? And then when he gets up, what happens when this ATG undefeated champion continues to throw a library of bonecrushers upon him? He's deader than a doornail.

Roy Harris, Pete Radamacher, Jean Jaques Roy, Tom Mcneeley, Brian London...all of these gooftroopers knocked Floyd down.

  5. like i said.... rocky was retired in 1956 in his early 30s if he was still great why he did not fight no more? like i said.. patterson might well beat him in 1956. ACCEPT IT, YOU WILL LIVE BETTER

Marciano wanted to retire before figt with Archie Moore due to worsening problems with Al Weil, hi smanager. Weil bulied Rocky's father, was not paying trainer, (Rocky picked up slack, payed him) and making Marciano's life miserable. He had no big fight on horizon after Moore, anothe reason he retired.

I think he means that Rocky KO'd better fighters than Liston KO'd.

Not that Rocky KO'd fighters who were better than Liston.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!! Yeah who????? Liston would have cleaned up the fighters of Marciano era all by KO in a few rounds max and none knocking him down like they did Marciano.
You don’t believe me google Walcott quote below. Yes Walcott who saw Ali in person even refereed him vs Liston and fought Rocky Louis and Ezzard said Ali could beat them all.
“Cassius Clay is the best heavyweight champion of them all. He could beat Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Rocky Marciano and a fellow named Jersey Joe Walcott.”
And watch the first Liston Clay fight Louis did color on the broadcast said Liston was on his way to becoming the GOAT. Its on video for anyone to see. Louis was basically saying Liston was better then him and we know Louis was the best up to his era.
You know more than they do?? Liston and Ali each would have whipped Rocky badly. No contest.

There are some obvious problems with what you are saying.

If you compare the opponents that Marciano and Liston actually beat, as opposed to lost to, then Marciano has the edge.

You could argue that Patterson is the best of what is left, but after hat the tables quickly tip towards Marciano.

Liston might well have been on his way to great things, but the reality is that he lost his title in his second defense.

In hindsight it is hard to compare him favorably to Louis, who held the title for more than a decade.

If Rocky is healthy and his back problems don’t get the better of him by that point then I think he likely still wins.

Number 3 all time? Wow. Do you know Floyd and Rocky had 1 common opponent Archie Moore? Rocky struggled in 55 after being decked they slogged through 9 rounds till finally the fight was stopped. Floyd in 56 dominated him from the opening bell and iced him with 1 punch in 5th round. Totally outclassed Archie. What do you rate Floyd #2???

Rocky by KO 6-8 rounds but Rocky that beat Louis/Walcott would win inside 4 rounds.
