Daniel Dubois’s supposed one punch knockout power

    people on the forum think of Daniel as a big one punch knockout artist, some even think he’s in the same league as guys like Zhilei Zhang. But when I look through his record against contenders, He doesn’t really give off that vibe.

    Like for example, he went 10 rounds Against joy Joyce and couldn’t even put a dent in him. Zhang tko’d Joyce in 6 rounds and ko’d him in 3 in the rematch. Jarrell Miller got tko’d in the last round of a 10 round bout and was never off his feet despite taking a lot of big shots. Filip Hrgovic Got stopped in the 8th on cuts from repeated Headbutts instead of punches, and the most recent example is Fabio Wardley, who essentially got punched at will for 11 rounds straight and was never off his feet.

    His most impressive knockout, and the one I suspect bolstered his reputation as a puncher, was Anthony Joshua. Now Anthony never had the best punch resistance, We saw the same thing happen with Andy Ruiz. When Andy knocked out Joshua, people started acting like he was some one punch knockout artist, but his subsequent fights after losing the rematch proved that wasn’t the case. He looked like a relatively average puncher whenever he fought someone with a pulse.

    overall, I definitely don’t think Daniel is feather fisted by any stretch of the imagination, but I don’t think he’s that big of a puncher either. I think he’s closer to a 6 or 7 out of 10. What do you think?

    If Dubois's a 6, then what are Usyk or Fury? 4 or 5?

    A lot of the comments regards Daniel Dubois’ punching power don’t actually come from “people on this forum” they actually come via other pro’s who have sparred and/or fought him

    Honestly, I think they’re both about a 5. Not feather fisted, but Average for heavyweight.

    Miller has only been stopped by Dubois and never put down, he is massive with an iron chin. SHW Hrgovic also has an iron chin but was being rocked a lot before he got stopped in 8, also never stopped before. Wardley has a very good chin, also never dropped, and only stopped by Dubois. Lerena has only been stopped by Dubois and was taken out in 3. Joshua had never been destroyed like that before and had the round 1 right hand not landed at the end of the round, he might have been finished a lot sooner.

    The evidence suggests that Dubois is a very big puncher, without question one of the most powerful in decades and likely all time in terms of blunt force trauma.

    Yeah his punching power is overrated. He also has a fragile mandible which the uncritical fans tend to overlook:

    That's true, but as Emanuel Steward who trained those guys to compensate for their shaky chins is dead, my guess is Dubois is **** out of luck. He is also is likely not as trainable.

    Miller and Wardley haven't really fought many other punchers though, so I'd take that with a grain of salt. Not entirely clued up on Lerena's resume, but didn't some people think that stoppage was a bit premature given Lerena had dropped Dubios more that fight?

    The stoppage was also WAY premature. Miller was on his feet, absorbing punches yes, but didn't look close to going down

    Yeah I agree, it felt like they were just waiting for enough unanswered punches to step in rather than Miller actually being that hurt.
