I think its fair to say Lewis beat Holyfield twice, just got robbed unfortunately.

Rightly or wrongly, some people place alot of emphasis on the fact that Lewis beat Holyfield.

According to research done my OF and Chris Pontius, Lewis fought more top ranked contenders (Ring) than any other champion aside from Louis and Ali and more punchers than any other champion aside from Ali and possibly Walcott (though there are disagreements there). Not a bad start.

In my opinion Lewis' resume is just as stronge at Heavyweight, besides...
Lewis defeated Holyfield twice at Heavyweight BEFORE Holyfield became shot, case closed.

ok we could get a little pedantic about when people become recognised chap (did holy ever become undisputed? serious question)

so take the word reign out of it. HW career wise i favour LL. beat some good fighters (Botha, Golota, ruddock, tua, grant, mercer, an admittedly faded tyson, klitshkoand holy himself)

To reiterate i think atg wise holy higher but at heavy its LL for me. Not trying to come off like a ***** if you think holy tell me why and will listen, i just feel lennox is the better heavyweight

These debates will never end, when your talking about 2 greats like Lewis and Holyfield there will always be powerful arguements made from both sides.

Ignore all the names after Dokes. I can't believe you've put Ruiz on there, who Holy was all square with, lost to, and got knocked down by. tua, Ruddock, etc are all better than those guys, and Lewis fought some of them too.

Bowe. Yep, he beat him. But lost twice, and probably got saved by Fan Man in the other.

Moorer. Well, 1-1 with him. Moorer made his name by beating Holyfield, and getting KO'd by old George. Moorer is no better than Rahman IMO.

Holmes and Foreman. Come on, are you serious? Big George won the title by Moorer being an asshat, and still being able to punch. Not long after he was having struggles with guys like Axel Schulz.

tyson. Tyson was ****. Had fought about 3 rounds after coming out of prison before facing Holy (who BTW his advisors picked because they thought he was an easier target than Lewis......). His whole post prison career was nothing more than smoke and mirrors, (including opponents dives) to make people think he was still the baddest man around. I include his Lewis fight in that too before you go on about it.

Mercers a good win, Douglas was a whale.

Look it's close, but Lewis was the better heavy. When you consider Holy to be a cruiser, and his cruiser career, his overall rating is better than Lewis's without doubt.

But as a Heavy, Holy is the little engine that could, that's why people love him, and why they rank him so high.

He was very close to being shot and he still couldnt handle Holy the way he should have. Tell me, why is it that a prime Lennox got ko'd twice by two men who wont even crack the top 50 all time HW? Yet an Old Holy gave Rahman an extra head in there fight. This after Holy was way past it.
