I hate that **** when HBO pulls that "Hype" crap by putting two big name fighters on the same card to fight / KO bums or stiffs............ Remember back in 1990 when Foreman KO'd Adilson Rodrigues and Mike Tyson offed Henry Tillman on the same bill.?.?.? That card stunk..... That's just ONE example of bad matchmaking..... I think people keep forgetting that the Pac/Hatton fight will be taking the boxing dollars in May and summer is not the time to try and sell a big fight. HBO won't back Pavlik/Abraham until fall probably. Relax guys. It is summer vacation for the boxers too.
To be fair, Mora has only had two or three fights at 154, he's usually at 160. There's no doubt this is a total mismatch though.

While I see your point, last year Cotto/Margo did 500K in July. Personally as long as they hold true to their commitment to air Abraham/Lorenzo before the Pavlik card gets going, I'm happy.
Cotto/Margo had a built in PPV base. Pac/Hatton fighting the same night wouldn't have affected it that much.
"Cotto-Margo" was a for sure winner in the making..... Nobody doubted it would sell on PPV............. "Pavlik-Abraham" will tank on PPV in sales..... I bet they struggle with 250k buys.......:hi: SR.BILL:yikes
Solid point. My argument was just that it's not impossible to sell a PPV during the summer time. I would really prefer to see this on Showtime instead of PPV. Ya know this is one instance where it would've paid off for Arum to hold onto that deal with Versus.
HBO did. They didn't even think it was fiscally worth it to make a Countdown show. More proof HBO was thinking ass backwards last year.
Regardless of Kelly Pavlik being a white boy from Ohio, he still hasn't caught the imagination of the entire nations sporting interest...... Bob Arum pushed Kelly onto PPV very quickly to see how the American public was fishing..... Kelly Pavlik is doing fine for himself, but that loss to B-Hops did hurt his marketability rather harsh for PPV sales..... Kelly Pavlik is NOT a solid household PPV fighter in the states at this point..... Pavlik is still a mid-west fighter with a building reputation..... MR.BILL
Agreed I see your point. Absolutely. People like Pavlik when he's in competitive fights. His first fight with Taylor was the most viewed live WCB fight on HBO. Since then it's been all downhill since then. Barely 225K against Taylor II on PPV and a massive ratings stinker against WBO "mandated" Pocket Rocket Lockett. Hopkins-Pavlik did so badly that if forced HBO to change its PPV procedure. If you put Pavlik in big fights, he'll draw..otherwise he's not a big enough name to sell himself.
