Chagaev verus Valuev. Your pick and are you interested?

Holyfield showed that any semblance of footwork and movement is pure cryptonite for Valuev, though obviously he got robbed in the end. Valuev doesn't deserve to be called a champion and neither does anyone who can't manage to beat him (excluding illegitimate wins), so hopefully Chagaev can get the job done.

of course i am excited. ruslan will win by a decision. i cannot decide by what type officially though as they will most likely try to rob him, but i know it will be clear to the fans who the winner is.

He's fighting Chagaev so the scores will be neutral in this one. Picking Chagaev by UD, though pretty sure they will make it SD, a draw isn't out of the question.

Valuev is just terrible, one of the worst champions in Boxing, but I'll probably watch it all the same in the hope that Chagaev still has enough left to get rid of this imposter.

 

Valuev by UD if the judges score effectiveness over volume. As always Valuevs opponent will connect often, but without visible effect on the giant. For me a boxer scores if he connects with a punch that delivers some power. In most cases Valuev did not even blink when hit, so the effectiveness of his opponents punches are questionable. To hit Valuevs head you have to close the distance, find the gap, punch upwards, partially blocked by the big arm, with an inconvenient angle, then Valuev moves his head a little bit and takes the remaining smack without a blink. No point given from me.
And yes, as a casual fan I am very interested in the fight!

 

To my memory, Holyfield clearly won the first 5 or possibly 6 rounds (not a fight i want to remember). I am certain there were a number of rounds where Valuev didn't land a single blow to the head. Valuev won the majority of the second half of the fight but a single round to Holyfield in there would have won him the fight.

I wouldn't dare going back to score it though. The only way you could score any more than six rounds to Valuev is by penalising Holyfield for his ring movement, saying he ran and avoided exchanges, even though Valuev made zero attempts to cutoff the ring and Holyfield outlanded him 5-1 (literally, 5 punches to 1).

 

Thx. Interesting. Somehow I have my doubts of the source of the german paper, WTF, they interviewed 50 writers, really? But it really doesn't matter, let them score that way, I noted the ringside scoring difficulties with Valuev, impossible.

Pls look for a quality copy, sit down and score the fight, look to give every single round to someone, only score a draw if absolutely nothing happened or the same amount of same kind of punches landed. Even uneventful fights can be scored properly, it just takes extra attention. I guarantee you won't find 4 Valuev rounds.

I don't want to convince anyone, hey, we all have different opinions, but it's one of those rare situations when I feel an outrageous robbery happened, and there are people who somehow saw it very differently, which is hard for me to understand.
