cant help but think that Pernell Whitaker deserves a bitter song than Limp Bizkit

You can watch tape that shows the erosion of the skills compared to years gone by. Heavyweight is a great example of that. What a nonsense statement you made.

 

Fighters I have higher in my alltime list (Floyd is at about 75 following the win over Shane, who was past prime, but Floyd showed his adaptability and that he didn't need to 'run' to win, thus improving my respect for him)

-Mike McCallum
-Roy Jones
-Duran (did a lot of great work in the 70's as well though)
-Leonard
-Julio Cesar Chavez
-Arguello (again did his best work in the 70's arguably)

It's better to rank fighters once they've retired IMO though. With a win over Pac (a non controversial one) Floyd could climb as many as 50 places on my list. He still needs to prove himself IMO; Shane was not sharp, and his punch resistance has clearly dwindled.

Floyd can take a decent shot though; the two right hands that wobbled him early were pinpoint.

All the above fighters have as good/better levels of ability IMO, despite all their different styles. Floyds speed and reflexes are quite unreal even at 147 though, although he ISN'T DEFENSIVELY INFALLIBLE!!!!

 

Why? Because he shouldn't.

 

Still, wins over Toney, Hopkins (pre-prime) McCallum (post-prime but still very good) and Virgil Hill (got destroyed, arguably 'the man' at light heavy for some time) give him a fairly lofty ranking. I have him at no.45 currently

I think the lower end of the top 50 is about right.

I'm not a fan of Toney at all, between the Jones loss and Jirov win his record is shockingly bad, only a couple of decent wins in there, the rest are an assortment of bus drivers, plasterers and school teachers.

I'd say all things considered Hill is perhaps his best win :think
