It's a key part of his defense against infighting, and it is effective(and legitimate). I think that the best way to get around it is with uppercuts, he leaves himself open to up/downs with this technique.

Mehh I'm still not a fan of the elbow tactic it still looks a little dirty to me. But, I am a fan of Mayweather. I remember Tito did it to Hopkins and I dunno....looks a little dirty. But then again, I am a Hopkins fan too so I know what dirty REALLY looks like completely. Can't the ref still take away points for Mayweather for pushing off with the elbow though?

Most great fighters bend the rules a bit and honestly there's nothing wrong with it. If you get away with it, and it's helping you out, keep doing it. It's a fight. There's nothing wrong with that. I think most fighters would agree with me on that.

I'm not gonna lie I'll probably hold & hit but I'll try to refrain from doing that in the AMA's.

Its illegal when a fighter pushes off with the elbow to the face, like Mayweather did with Gatti and was warned by referee for doing. But if on the opponents chest and slides the elbow across the chest, its not. Also if you notice with Mayweather, when pressed by opponent and he goes into his shell, his right hand protects his face and his elbow is pointing upward. This is done,so if the opponent throws their overhand righthand while that elbow is up,right where the elbow bends would hit the tip of his elbow, which will cause alot of pain. If the opponent keeps throwing that overhand punch while hes in that position, after awhile they won't be able to throw their right hand effectively

Its illegal and the refs should do more about it, that being said, what he does is minor compared to what I have seen from other fighters.
