I think he would have become a good solid champ, but I think he had the potential to be a lower level all time great. Fighters of his ilk tend to fizzle out fast.. but if he had kept his **** together I give him a shot to win against anyone at 135 and 140. He was known for being 'wild' and 'like an animal' or whatever but I think thats a misnomer. At least in his last few fights he showed a lot of patience, along with great hand speed, will, and heart... In the De Marco fight I really thought we were seeing a future star of boxing emerge... What a damn shame.
valero had great power was very good at judging distance and timing.that maxboxing documentry shows how he got such a great gym rep.his resume is too thin to really make a judgement.would have loved him to fight jmm
