It was an russian speaking Institut. Iam sure he can not speak ukranian, maybe a little bit! 40% and more of the ukranian population first language is russian.

Actually all former Soviet countries were forced to speak Russian. Nowadays they try to save their native languages.

No, In the begining they used Arabic letters, then they used the Latin alphabet. After that they were forced to use russian letters. When they got independence in 1991 they decided to come back of using Latin alphabet.
Nowadays about 70% of people in Kazakhstan can speak both languages very well Kazakh and Russian.

 

ukranian is very similar to russian language, also its cyrillic writing, so i think he can read ukrain letter.

 

He answered he speaks russian, german, english and kazakh languages.
