I agree with you popularity doesnt equal greatness and i dont think hatton is a great fighter, he is a good fighter with great achievements. just because he gets knocked out that doesnt mean his fans are going to stop supporting him.
I'm not trying to bad mouth Vargas or anything, but if people want compare them on accomplishments, Hatton wins. simply because he had more belts at more weights and was the linear champ for a significant period of time. If you want to make a comparison based on resume, then it becomes closer.

Hatton may not be a HoF fighter in the eyes of most here, so its just as well he has achieved more than any other opinionated **** on this site, and probably doesnt care as the real experts know what he has accomplished, real experts = his boxing peers, not forum trolls
