I'll reserve judgement until he steps up a level to a Barthelemy type opponent. I think he's the goods and he passes the eye test. His amateur pedigree has suited him well and i'm impressed with his defense albeit he fought a very predictable and slow boxer in Ohara Davies.
There is just something about Josh Taylor all the way through which I didn't like. It was quite clear he was trying to use childish tactics in the first press conference to wind up OD but it just came across as him being an idiot. I just find he comes across as very annoying, cocky and arrogant. A bit like the whole of cyclone to be honest. OD also comes across as a bit of an idiot but I find the way he sells the fight was much more entertaining than Taylor. I also don't like the way Taylor would chastise people for not thinking he'd win the fight, just showed more arrogance.
I think now that we're seeing Ricky Burns on the decline, it's great that this kid has burst onto the scene. He's brash and cocksure on social media and in pressers and in the ring he's showed that he's ruthless (landing on Ohara when he quit) but he's exactly the kind of fighter that the Scottish fans need right now to look up to and get excited about.
