Early on, in the first round when they were both fresh Gomez ended up on the canvas in the first serious exchange where both planted and punched together. Sanchez chased after him for the rest of the round as Gomez gave ground virtually non-stop. Sanchez fought in the pocket at various times later on and got the best of his share of exchanges. Sanchez did slip into a more casual gear as the fight settled but he'd done a lot of damage in that early shootout. It was like he wanted to establish dominance in that first round.
Absolutely DP. Sanchez was one of these counter punchers that often liked to move toward their foe and draw their attack. Napoles was a great example of another. They didn't wait, wait, wait they liked to make it happen.
Recently I was watching one of the many The Godfather explanation videos on You Tube and came to realize that Sanchez was Vito Corleone to Gomez's Emilio Barzini: Sanchez awaited patiently, while at the same time exploring his opponent's weaknesses, while Gomez just attacked and revealed many things about himself to Sanchez. In the end, just like the Corleones, Sanchez won.

Hagler could and did do it all during his career, cutie, infighting, stalking, a complete fighter at his very best. In his final victory, he outslugged a monster puncher in Mugabe, who came up with his career best performance for Hagler. He just couldn't back Marv up, and Hagler may have had the best chin of all time. Ace Hudkins? Mickey Walker produced perhaps his best career performance by retreating in the pocket to outbox the Nebraska Wildcat, a bout seen frequently on YouTube.
Joe Louis outslugged Max Baer at the end of the opening round in perhaps the greatest exchange of power I've ever seen between heavyweights. Joe just put his punches together too well for anybody to outslug him during his prime. Marciano retired him, but that was still no picnic for Rocky, as Louis drew blood and won some rounds after his combination punching deserted him.
The correct answer to this question is a slugger. If you are up against a slugger, try to outbox them. If your natural style is swarmer, then you are probably in for a difficult nigh, whatever you do.
