Its clear as day his best days a far behind him, but he clearly proved he still has the natural talent that can win him fights despite his deteriorated state.

Regardless of what you think of Kiram, he is a younger, taller, longer, bigger fighter in his prime, with respectable power and LM still KO cold. I think Matthysse can't be counted out against all the WW save Spence who I think has the worst style for him.

Here's too LM hoping he keeps proving his doubters wrong.

I read it on a couple of posts and even kellerman was trying to imply that and he was not giving matthysse any credit at all. It was a very complicated fight, being the smaller guy and clearly not in his prime.

He won a regular title. Lucas should have been a world champ but I doubt he achieves it.

Can we agree the MVP of the night was Mercito Gesta?

Linares put on the best performance but he was expected to dominate. Gesta rose above expectations.

He lost most of the rounds 55/45 or 60/40, that's a hell of a lot better than the 80/20 and KO'd cold prediction I had made in my mind, so yeah I agree.

I knew Gesta would. He was highly touted at one time and could possibly win a title at LW someday, but Linares is the man at 135 and losing to him is nothing to be ashamed of, you dig?

His fights against Herrera, Salka, Guerrero.. His fight against Vargas didn't prove anything to me, and he clearly lost to Thurman so again didn't prove much with that fight.

I also don't see that hunger anymore. DG is fresher than LM, but he hasn't looked prime for a couple of years now.

Watching it again, I think both KDs might have been from jabs. The jab sent the spray flying from his head for the first one before the follow up grazing right landed and I think that's what might have hurt him.

If that's the case, I better amend this post.

'':ARMS1:******* beast! Lucas is war-weary and shot to ****, blind in one eye, his spirit is broken from boxing politics and being robbed numerous times, and he was fighting a freaking CW who was juiced to **** on an industrial dose of A-Side meth and who outweighed him by at least 50lbs, and he just iced him with JABS and has become a world champion.''

That's because he was never really all that great to begin with, he lucked out to an extent with Lucas' eye injury, and should have taken an L against Herrera, clearly, and draws against Peterson and Guerrero, but he's still got too much for this particular version of Brandon and Lucas.

I disagree, but I expect Garcia to make a statement with Rios, not that its that big a deal, but its a good build back fight for him, and the MATHYSSE rematch would be inevitable.

Eh im big Lucas fan but he was losing and couldnt get past that jab.Saw some pretty weird scores here i guess fanboys.

Still glad that he managed to win that one but wonder if that guy gassed out or took a dive , either way Lucas doesnt belong at 147-im really concerned bout him if he decides to stick and fight some of the punchers.Hes shot and too small for 147 , wont be able to land a meaningful punch and will get hurt badly ,already had issues with the eye in the past.

Guys, kayoing Tewa Kiram with a couple of jab knockdowns is all well and fine but if you found that impressive you all really need to check out Ungsrivongs vs. Kustiawan from earlier this week - much prettier jab KO, and vastly superior overall performance (in both corners) than in tonight's.

Matthysse earned the benefit of the doubt. He won, he was in control of the fight for the most part, and despite being at a height, reach, size, and style disadvantage, he won in dramatic fashion.

He may likely lose against the top WW, but he wont have a size or height disadvantage against Thurman, Garcia, Porter, or Figueroa, and he has that power, which is the last thing to go, which he clearly still has plenty off.
