Some naive fans rate George Foreman 2.0 higher than during his prime, is it conceivable that Holyfield would’ve beat that version as well though? Also, which fighters from the 1970s would have mostlikely beat Holyfield?

Holyfield certainly got the abilities to outlast prime George. However, I see a Norton scenario in that fight, with Holyfield taking a terrible beating in the first rounds.

If Holyfield got a trainer that reined in his natural urge to brawl, and made him box a technical fight against Foreman, I think he'd have a good chance of winning. If on the other hand he got into that hardass mode he often got into and fought fire with fire, Foreman would probably mallet him, because he hit harder and had a better chin.

I would favour Big Goerge by decision.

Foreman would stop him mid rounds after a terrible beating. Holyfield's chin would only see him to those mid rounds

Absolutely he could, but whether he would is something we will never know. For my money any top 15 (maybe 20) ATG has a chance against others on that same/similar level of eliteness.

To me I don’t see Foreman stopping a prime Holyfield, and I struggle to see him winning a decision if he can’t stop him or at least drop him a time or two. I actually favor Holyfield in this hypothetical.

No way is Holy beating Prime George. He was given one of his toughest fight s up to that point by a well past prime version ,by toughest I mean the guys still there throwing punches at round 12 .A prime version stops a out gunned ,battered Holy in 6 .

I think a prime Holyfield is all wrong for a prime Foreman. Foreman had the power and speed in his youth to stop Holyfield, but lacked the patience that he had as an older fighter. I think Holyfield would stop a prime Foreman late, since he'd wear him down and finish Big George off once George was tired.

In all fairness George Benton tried to do that but Holy didnt want to always listen. Benton is on record talking about this subject.
