Was bud always expected to be world class

    Early in his career was it expected he would be a multi weight world champ.

    No. Nobody knew who he was. He was a late fill in to fight Briedis Prescott and washed him.

    I don’t remember any hype for him, but after seeing him school Prescott I had no doubt he was gonna be right at the top of the sport one day.

    This. Virtually nobody had even heard of him, let alone hyped Bud. I mean, except me. :D I'd seen him several times by Prescott, and thought he was talented as hell but, full disclosure, I did think he might be at risk of being kayoed when he stepped up because he used to be VERY lazy/arrogant defensively when he fought tomato cans. Turns out his chin is legit, and he got way more disciplined & responsible on D anyway.
