I'd say Roy, by far....at least in terms of how he won, and where Bernard was in relation to his prime. Hopkins was 29 years old, at his best weight, and Roy had a clear victory there.. Mitchell was a 4 rounder in B-Hop's debut, and that was at either Cruiser or Light-Heavy. Hopkins was 40+ for everybody else on that list.

Taylor's was more significant, since he captured all 4 belts, and ended Hopkins' long reign. Bernard was 40 though, and JT barely scraped by, so there's that.

Nothing else on the list comes all that close.

Actually, I forgot...this is Hopkins we're talking about. Kind of hard to pinpoint where his prime was exactly. He looked awesome at nearly 37 vs. Trinidad. Had another masterpiece performance at 43 vs. Pavlik. I thought he was extremely consistent from the Mercado rematch all the way up until Taylor.

I think I'd place his prime somewhere around the Joe Lipsey/Glen Johnson fights, but it's hard to tell with him.

Probably Jones just because he got probably the most dominant win over the best version of Hopkins while the others was when Hopkins was old and the fights themselves were pretty close until like Dawson

    Jones

I was there at RFK stadium.

It was a tactical, boring fight. Jones was too fast

Roy and Chad Dawson because those two wins were the most decisive wins against Bernard when he was either in a physical prime or still operating at an elite level. Calzaghe's win was very ugly (although I though Cal definitely won), and Kovalev and Joe Smith were both dominating wins but they were fighting the ghost of Bernard. Roy beat Bernard and Bernard went on to become a HOF'er and ATG, Chad beat Bernard and Bernard won two more world titles immediately after. I think Bernard would've always lost to Kovalev at these end stages but he was post 50 at that point, and let's be honest no way would Bernard even a couple years earlier have lost to Joe Smith.

Jermain Taylor had the most significant win because he ended Hopkins long historic Middleweight reign.

I would also say Dawson's convincing win over Hopkins is underrated aswell. Their 1st fight Dawson was on his way to winning before bizarre ending. And in the rematch Dawson certainly proved that aswell by winning the rematch convincingly. Yeah Hopkins was old but he still had a bit left in the tank and was coming off two good performances vs Pascal.

RJJ beat a pre prime Hopkins but still Hopkins was at his physical prime atleast in regards to age. Maybe he hadn't quite refined his style yet but still a very good win for RJJ.

I would rate them in this order.....

    1. RJJ
    2. Dawson
    3. Taylor
    4. Calzaghe
    5. Kovalev
    6. Smith
    7. Mitchell

I rate Calzaghe one slightly lower as Calzaghe was dropped and I thought Calzaghe actually lost the fight by 1 point.

Calzaghe for me. Hopkins looked a new fighter having left the 160 weight-loss behind him. He was brilliant against Pavlik, and Calzaghe just about out-thought him, or out-strategised him.
