My most KOs in title fights list: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/top-ten-most-kos-in-title-fights.687634/ Joe Louis has been the champ for around 80 years! Naoya Inoue, on the verge of tying him (21 vs 22), has had 3 straight decisions, showing how hard the record really is to achieve, even in this era of diluted titles!
To be fair though, Floyd and Inoue have more wins vs top fighters than Chavez. Inoue has beaten 14 top 5 contenders and 20 top 10 contenders while Floyd beat 18 top 5 contenders and 22 top 10 contenders. Chavez beat 8 top 5 contenders and 15 top 10 contenders. In all fairness, Chavez has 4 wins over hall of famers while Inoue only has 3 and only 2 good ones.

Yeah. OP doesnt understand that quantity does not equal quality. Hence why all modern/recent fighters dwarf older fighters simply because there are more belt orgs now and more belts. The newer fighters look better, by raw figure, but theyre actually worse and watered down.
I don't count much for title fights alone, it's merely a statistic to help historians for context. Of course, by number of ranked fighters, old fighters dwarf modern fighters. It's more unfair to compare old to new because of the number of fights the old fighters had.
Older fighters fight more often, fought for less, and fought better competition almost every time they fought. The ducking that has been going on for the past 25 or so years is a relatively new thing. Very few of contemporary greats wouldve been champion or top ranked in past decades. Inoue, Floyd, Usyk, Manny, Bud, GGG, Canelo, Chocalitito, Loma, Bivol, Beterbiev, and Fury legitimately might be the only guys over past 25 years that would be relevant during the 70s and 80s. Not all of them would be champs, but some would and others would be highly ranked competitors.
