Canelo should just take the financial hit and come in at 154. He's 22 years old, had his whole career to make millions which he will do. It was alright for Floyd to do it v JMM so he can't say **** about Canelo doing it.

If I were Canelo, I'll just go over 152. Two days before the fight, I will tell Floyd I'm not going to pay the $10 M penalty and just cancel the fight. What do you think will happen ? Showtime, GBP,TMT, Las Vegas will lose a lot of money .To avoid the cancellation of the fight, Showtime and GBP might split the $10M penalty or Floyd will just reduce the amount.

That's a big time gamble that I doubt Alvarez is willing to take. He needs this fight a lot more than Mayweather does. If Mayweather calls his bluff, he's completely screwed and would face vast financial consequences.

Let's consider this. If this were to happen, Canelo would:

    A) lose the biggest opportunity in his professional career (a pretty big deal)
    B) He would actually lose money overall because he would be sued heavily for breach of contract. So instead of becoming, say $10m richer, he will become several million poorer.
    C) He would be blackballed by promoters or at least have a huge X over his name because he would have shown himself to have the capacity to bail, and lose money for promotional companies. Ultimately he would change his status from an 'asset' to a 'liability'.

In other words, school is important.

It probably won't be $10m because Canelo won't be paid much more than that anyway. It will probably be several million at least, because Floyd and his team was in the driver's seat for negotiations and they would have made sure the penalty is very significant to protect his interests.

Canelo will meet the weight requirement.

They both need this fight (50/50) especially Floyd. Floyd's last fight did not sell well.

    A) he's young and if he's good enough he can be the next star of boxing.

    B) If he's sick ( trying to lose weight ) He can't be sued for breach of contract, right ?

    C) I don't think so. He will be the next PPV king and he's Mexican, Mexicans support their boxers. IMHO

They do not both equally need this fight. Mayweather already is on top of the sport and has a ton of money. Alvarez is trying to get there. If Alvarez breaches his contract and causes the fight to get cancelled the fallout will have a much greater impact on him than on Floyd.

If he's sick, he'll need proof that he's sick. Simply saying that he's sick isn't good enough. Attempting to strong arm his way out of his end of the deal would be a clear indication that he really isn't sick.

The weight will not be an issue for Canelo. If you remember, Canelo's team came to Floyd and said we want to fight, we'll come down to 152; and Floyd agreed. Canelo would not have proposed 152 if he didn't think he could make it.

He'll make it, but Floyd needs this fight just as bad to stay on top as Canello does for his future. Floyd's fought too many uncompetitive fights, put the nix on the Pacquiao fight, and his numbers are down after his last PPV. De La Hoya was a long time ago and he needs to impress.

thing is, some in the past have also proposed of going down in weight then they never even attempted to make it.

that's why it would be understandable for floyd to ask for that 10mil/pound penalty.
