Also how you can rank Winky and Williams there, or so how, I don't know. Oops that was meant to be an edit.

Or that guy that beat Inkin? Way to show you know how deep a division is. Froch is a mere windmilling belt holder until the WBC MAKES JT take that belt. Pavlik should abandon the belts he has worked hard for? Yeah. Right. Cuz YOU say so. Even Bhop told him to stay at MW and dominate. There are a few folks on this board I would let make the argument that 160 is weak, but you haven't shown you have the knowledge to back up that statment, just frequent poster miles.

And if you take the top guys out the division is so competitive because it is evenly matched that you would get people saying it is one of the strongest divisions.

true aside from pavlik-abraham and sturm the rest are unproven. Im not counting winky and paul williams as true middleweight cuz both guys fights at 154 and PW even fights at 147.

Do you also not count Marquez as a lightweight? Winky hasn't fought below 160 in YEARS and you're tripping if you think he could still make 154.

The bottom half is very weak compared to the current power divisions, and including Winky and PW in the top half is sleight of hand. Winky will fight anywhere between 160-170 where he can get paid, Williams is freelancing as well.

160 isn't the worst division, but it ain't strong.

There are those calling Rubio a blown up JMW on the basis he fought at that weight years ago. They didn't do pre fight weigh ins but Rubio SAID he expected to enter the ring at 175. Pavlik was 172 in his fight with Bhop at 170. He normally rehydrates to about 168/170. Yet, Rubio was the smaller man to them. These guys post and reinforce each other's beliefs until they think they can aruge them as fact.

winky fights over 160 lbs. I believe his only fight at 160 is against jermain taylor. His fight with bernard was a catchweight 166 i believe so he is not really a middleweight. Marquez is fighting at 135 lbs and has another fight this month against diaz.

    Kelly Pavlik
    6'2.5
    75" reach

    Marco Antonio Rubio
    5'10
    70" reach

Pavlik, career middleweight, fought as high as 170.

Rubio, currently a middleweight, moved up from 154.

Look, Pavlik was fighting a tune up and a mandatory. I'm not into bashing him for no good reason. But please quit pretending he was in with a prime Mugabi last weekend.

:rofl Only Pavlik and Abraham are good, Winky is 37 and inactive, Williams isn't a MW, Mundine is past it, Sturm is garbage the rest are either garbage or unproven.

    Winky's fights at 160:
    Felix Trinidad
    Sam Soliman
    Jermain Taylor
    Ike Quartey

And then he blew up to 170 for a big money fight against Hopkins.

Winky's last fight at 154 was in 2004.

Just give it up, you're not winning this argument because you're flat out wrong.

I can see not ranking him on the basis of not having fought in 20 months (I don't), but you can't say he's not a middleweight, especially when 4 of his last 5 fights were at MW, he cancelled one fight that was to be as MW due to an injury, and he's scheduled for another fight at MW.

Rubio's 6'0" or 6'1", not 5'10". I'm not sure why Boxrec changed their stats on him after the fight, but he'd always been measured at 6'0" or 6'1" in the past, and if you actually watched the fight you would have noticed that Pavlik wasn't 4 inches taller than him. He'd also been fighting on and off at middleweight his entire career.

Nobody's claiming Rubio was great, but he's not some midget.

Still the fact that Rubio flopped at 154 yet was able to become a legitimate top 10 fighter at MW reinforces the fact that MW is weak as hell right now.

Winky hasn't fought at 160 in years. Just over two years to be specific. That fact that OP has him ranked four in the division illustrates the exact opposite of his intended argument.

He hasn't fought anyone in almost two years, so it's not that long of a stretch. However, if he's not a middleweight, what weight class do you propose he should be in? Light heavyweight, where it was clear he was only up for one fight before even making the fight?
