Of course, they were beatable and brought in a lot of money. Neither of them were champs though, and it's doubtful that GGG would stick around unless he had tremendous success with them.

If you were in GGGs position, would you have fought Ward? As a fan, I would have loved to see that fight. I'd favor Ward slightly, but it would be an amazing fight.

I'll say GGG ducked Ward. So???

Why can't you call it like it is? Canelo is OBVIOUSLY ducking GGG. Why do you HATE GGG?

I mean ****. Are you that scared for Alvarez? I mean damn, I think it's going to be competitive. What are you afraid of?

So you're saying GGG asked Ward for 164 so he could fight Canelo at 155??

It isn't the end of the world for GGG to ask Ward to fight at 164, but if it is a deal breaker, I blame it on the guy insisting on it. Same with Canelo and 155.

Regardless, noone cherrypicks the Cobra. Ward could've fought him this year and It wouldn't have been a cherrypick either.

I agree it isn't a cherrypick as we know it, but the point I think he is trying to make is that GGG was willing to fight Froch and Chavez at 168, but with Ward it had to be 164 to mitigate some of Ward's size advantage. It is then sort of hypocritical to turn around and condemn Canelo for doing the same. Both were trying to gain an advantage, or at least negate part of their potential opponents.

I'm sure if Canelo was to turn around and offer a fight to Andy Lee at 160, alot would be said.

I agree that both were trying to gain an advantage going into the fights. But like I said before, can you really blame anyone for not depending his future plans on a fight vs Ward after witnessing the last 4 years?

But regardless, GGG shouldn't have gone into all the "A side/B side" bulls**** and demanded a catchweight, that's for sure.

This gets explained on pretty much a daily basis around here.

I don't agree with either catchweights but GGG/Ward would have been a non title fight between two guys meeting in the middle from two different weight classes. The exact situation where catchweights make sense.

GGG/Canelo is a guy who weighs the same if not more than GGG defending the lineal 160 title at 155 against another MW.

Ward Bumlovkin would have been a title fight seeing as Ward was the WBA 168lb Super champion and the 168lb LINEAL champion...

Why people focus on the 164 still is beyond me. The more important number was 50/50 at the weight.

    Why?

Because GGG wasn't taking even money to fight at Ward's weight as the more popular fighter.

Ward wouldn't take short money to get GGG at 168, which is why they made the terrible offer of 50/50 at 168 a year from now.

Golovkin, no matter what weight the Canelo fight happens at, will never over value himself at the expense of missing out on the fight. He's not too proud to take the short money to get the fight made.

    Andre was.

Focus on that the next time you feel like *****ing about the 164 offer.

How do you know Ward's titles would have been on the line? How do we even know any such offer was made?

The difference is Canelo said 155 and we can fight next, GGG said 164 & 2017.
