i think Duran would trouble him early with his cageyness and his ability to impose himself on his opponents with his jab and flowing compinations. But Manny takes a great punch and is very resiliant. manny could easily be down on points for the first half of the fight, but I think he would start to try and time Duran coming in. he would miss a lot but throw a lot of punches. maybe missing with the one, two, but landing the right hook. Its a very tough fight to call. If this was a 15 round fight, i think Manny would turn the tide by around the middle rounds and maybe win a tight decision. If it was a 12 round fight, I might favor Duran because it would take a few rounds for manny to get in his rythm and he might come away with the win.

i stand corrected I re read the post and it says the Duran that fought Leonard the first time. I thought it was the 1980 Duran in general, which could be seen much differently. the second fight was in 1980 too.

After reading this thread, if I had never heard of Pac before, I'd think he was ****ing garbage.

Duran isnt going to stand there and block punches with his face, he is a much better fighter than the guys Roach is picking out for Pac. He sure as **** isnt getting knocked out, Cotto was stopped in the 12th, how are some of you saying Duran gets stopped in the 8th and 10th? Youre ****ing crazy

The fight would be spectacular while it lasted. I could certainly see Pacquiao's awkward in and out style and punching angles giving Duran problems. I think Duran would bother Pacquiao with a good lead right hand, like the one he used against Sugar Ray. Pacquiao just doesn't have the evasive manuevers to keep Duran at bay, and backs up against pressure fighters far to easily.

Duran was fantastic at feinting, he'd fake right look throw a left hook to the body, and while Pacquiao uses his amazing handspeed and great angles, I feel Duran has the better repertoire of punches.

Pac's best effort would be to throw quick combinations when Duran came in, and than do his best to get out of the pocket before Duran can retaliate. Duran could be wobbled by punches he didn't see. Duran would hurt Pac and force Pac to react to every feint Duran threw. Thats when Roberto would take him out.

You can't stay in front of Duran, even SRL tried and he got his ass kicked in the first 4 rounds. Leonard was hurt multiple times by Roberto in their first fight. Pacquiao would land some big shots, and have his moments, but I think Duran is just to dynamic a fighter for Pacquiao.

Go watch the Duran that beat SRL, re-read the thread & tell me that !

Some people pick Pac to win which is fkn insane IMO, losing to a peak Duran doesnt make anyone garbage, its just that Duran was an awesome fighter.

Of course Duran was an awesome fighter (top five ever, probably) but people saying that Pac will be knocked out within three rounds is similarly laughable.

Come on man. Duran's 2nd best win at welter was his superb victory over Carlos Palomino.

And the Duran of Montreal would have beaten Pac. As much of a ******* as I am, the Duran of Montreal was a level above Manny, that Duran was one of the finest fighting machines ever seen inside a boxing ring. How else can you describe someone who comprehensively outfought prime Sugar Ray Leonard over 15 rounds?!

I often wonder if a Pac v FMJ fight would pan out the same way.

Pacquiao could score punches on Duran, but I think the latter is the bigger puncher. I'd go for Duran, I believe once he connects on Pac it would make a difference.
