A slow flat footed bleeder who made his entire resume of beating old washed up shop worn balding fighters is going to get stopped by George Foreman. A old Foreman dream fight, a small brave guy not overly fast coming straight at him with no angles and wants to trade.......hello uppercut and roundhouse after push........Marciano could not get away from ancient Louise's jab.....old Foreman would stop Marciano dead in his tracks coming in with his ram rod jab, rinse and repeat and eventually Foreman will let him in for the mercy uppercut KO. Marciano has never ever been hit like he is going to be hit from Foreman, fact, the Nursing home Pensioners he had to get up from don 't count. The typical Marciano worshiper is on the average short in height and weights maybe 150 wet and out lives his Fantasy about some Giant killer Italian Super Hero....... I am sure Marciano punched hard for a Cruiser weight but he is not even in the same zip code as modern Super Punchers......and even old Foreman is a Super Puncher when he lands clean. To beat Foreman , young or old, you need speed of foot and hand, angles, chin and one more time speed to beat him to the punch because of his poor defense, Marciano aint got no speed...case closed.
Slow - no flat footed - no more than any other fighter bleeder - that would be wepner Who are the old washed up shop worn balding fighters you're talking about? Foreman was knocked out by a 32 year old with worn legs who wasn't a big puncher.
Marciano had some of the best usage of angles ever. Especially on the inside. And him being slow? Are we going off footage, or Bert Sugar tropes? Rocky Marciano makes Murat Gassiev look like a zombie. Wilder is 220lb, and the hardest puncher in the division full of 250lb+ fighters. I guess this whole power over size argument only work for modern bad ass rockstar heavyweights. Not for white bums from the 50's.
Muhammad Ali doesn't fit that profile. The typical Marciano hater is someone stuck in the race wars narrative of the 80's/90's. They can't tell reality from the Sugarisms. Rocky never fought SHWs. But SHWs have fought the kinds of guys Rocky fought. And imo none of them beat them like he did.
I disagree with him, but I do suspect that they're overrepresented by middle aged Italian-American men.
I do, however , Stewart was not 5'10/185.....maybe when he was 15.....and would have been one of the hardest puncher Marciano would have faced who at one time was like 28-0 28 ko's or something similar than that....a sure step up from the Grandfathers he faced or the human punch bag Cockswell....
Depends on the ref. If george is allowed to push Rocky like he pushed Frazier then Big George KO 4. If not It's a coin toss though I'm still leaning foreman.
So Marciano was not slow afoot and he wasn't a bleeder? Okay thanks for that. ps Marciano was knocked down by a 38 year old, and a 40 years old.
What slow of foot? This content is protected Where? His pace was like twice as fast as Savolds, who uses a footwork speed normal for heavyweights. Has anyone ever heard of fighters like Murat Gassiev being referred to as "slow of foot" despite the fact that he is far less mobile than Rocky with a lower pace? Want to see slow feet? Check out Vitali vs. Lewis, although I know nobody wants to hear that. Sad that inaccurate tropes still linger. Makes no sense. Especially since Rocky has extremely active footwork,
