Still don’t know for sure, but Leo’s bio on the PBC site says that while most of his family was from Mexico, he was born and raised in LA.

Unfortunately my boxer is not Orlando Salido. If it means anything Salido was on my list of boxers to eventually pick. I'm crossing him off now (or am I? You'll never know muhuhahaha)

This guess is how I found out that Carl Frampton was considered p4p top 10 at some point. Did he deserve it?

    Possibly, after he beat LSC.

Leo also fought Tank Davis, who definitely deserved that ranking.

The tricky thing with Leo was Ring apparently stopped with the annual P4P ratings for about a decade during a time would have been in it along with a lot of his contemporaries.

I’ll take a timeout here to share my Leo Santa Cruz story even though my guess was wrong.

Had one encounter with him and it made me a fan for life.

I’m in Las Vegas for a show. LSC is on the card in a title defense. After the weigh-in, everyone is filing out and I’m among the last. Leo and his entourage (really it was like four people iirc) are coming out at the same time. So we’re in this lobby area outside where they had the weigh-in going in the same direction and I end up right next to Leo and I pull out my phone to get a picture of his belt (the iconic green WBC) and he notices and stops and says, ‘you want to hold it?’ And pulls it off his shoulder and just hands it to me.

Like, who does that? I give it a good look and ask if I can get a picture of the center plate and he says sure and one of his cornermen holds it still while I take the picture. I give the strap back to Leo and thank him and wish him good luck and he says ‘thanks for coming, I hope you enjoy the show’ and shakes my hand, as does each of his corner/entourage, all smiles. (While I was looking at the belt, Leo was signing a few more autographs, basically hanging around until everyone got that or a pic or whatever.)

I mean, how can anyone not root for a guy like that? I supported him from that moment on, made sure to be somewhere I could watch every time he fought. I probably can’t say I’m Leo’s No. 1 fan, but he definitely made a fan for life with me.

That pic is still my screensaver on my phone to this day (I think this is three phones later, haha).

That's a really cool story. Now I wish I picked Leo Santa Cruz.

He was a fighter of the year after unifying Quigg and moving up to beat LSC, so probably - yes. I think I had it in my top 10 at that point.

Question: Did the fighter You have in mind take part in a world title fight in Japan in his career?
