Stoppage losses: KO, TKO … anything that Boxrec or any recognized record-keeping authority considers a KO/stoppage.

Unrelated but I knew a guy who raved about Beau Jack that was very old… he never elaborated on why… googled him saw no film and moved on, I believe he may have seen him fight more then we did and it’s always bothered me I didn’t know who he was at the time, you’re also probably right because of course you are.

So does Bob Montgomery count as an ATG? I hope I didn't throw people off with that answer.

    Round 5 is officially over.

Round 1: Sugar Ramos 15/20 Final guess: @Saintpat
Round 2: Glen Johnson 19/20 Final guess: @Mastrangelo
Round 3: Marvin Camel 13/20 Final guess: @Dorrian_Grey
Round 4: Oscar Larios 13/20 Final guess: @Mastrangelo
Round 5 Beau Jack 15/20 Final guess: @Saintpat

This is the first round where the first guess was the correct guess.

    Round 6 has officially started.

This round will use the normal rules. (One guess per poster, boxer must have won a world title at some point, etc)

    Question 0/20

I think he’s there but obviously not on the ‘automatic, don’t even need to think about it’ list.

But the way you answered was itself helpful, as the other poster pointed out — I figured if your boxer lost to, say, Henry Armstrong or Benny Leonard, you’d have just said yes. So within the confines of the game, I looked at ‘would the guy who dethroned this fighter be worthy of consideration that some could classify him as an ATG?’

Same thing with the clarification on KOs or TKOs … led me to ‘well at most this fighter has been KO’d clean once but would have other stoppages.’

So as the Alex Trebeck (RIP) of this enterprise, I think you’re being more than fair. I also think this particular line of questioning led down a long and winding road and took some thought at what to ask next to get to the eventual right answer … there were several I considered who were only out by one clue.
