This. The current era, aside from Pac and May (who are special boxers), has some good/solid fighters, but nobody that really stands out historically.

Yeah, it's pretty evident that the 2010 list is much weaker. However, it has been mentioned before that we're in a transition period. Other than Mayweather and Pacquiao who are still prime--though right at the end of their primes--many of the really special talents are still a bit green to make a P4P Top 10. Give it another year and the expanded resumes of guys like Ward, Dirrell, Gamboa, Lopez, et al. will improve things. They need to move up so old stalwarts like Hopkins, J.M. Marquez, and Mosely can finally be relegated. Even more important, do-nothing fighters like Donaire need to either **** or get off the pot.

It's not weak at all...it's just that Ring's P4P Ratings are crap, and that's saying something because everybody has their own opinion on P4P rankings, because there isn't really any right answer.

Why 2003? I prefer a nice round number, like 2000. A gap of a decade.

Even if you do the ESB list, which I agree is much stronger (wisdom of crowds and all) than the Ring's, the position-by-position comparison definitely skews strongly to 2003. However, I will contend that a lot of that, not all, can be explained by how many established, talented veterans there were at that time. The new generation is stepping up here, and it should be rather interesting to see what the list looks like next year.

    This is the 2000 rankings.

    My picks:
WW: Shane Mosley vs. Floyd Mayweather => Mosley by KO/TKO (2000 version of Mosley was unstoppable)
WW: Shane Mosley vs. Manny Pacquiao => Mosley by KO / TKO
LMW: Trinidad vs. Williams - not an easy fight for Tito, but I think he would finish Williams.
LHW:Roy Jones vs. Dawson => Jones W12, clear fight
WW: De La Hoya v. Mayweather => Mayweather by close decision (Oscar was coming off a loss from Mosley, but it is a difficult pick)
WW: De La Hoya v. Pacquiao => De La Hoya close decision
LW: Corrales vs. Marquez => Marquez by decision or late stoppage
FW: Hamed vs. Caballero (?) => Hamed by KO/ TKO. I think Hamed would beat Chris John and Lopez as well, probably Gamboa as well
SF: Mayweather vs. Marquez => Mayweather by decision
    HW: Lewis stops Klitschko easily.
FW: 2000 version of Morales beats Lopez, Chris John, Gamboa, Caballero, any current p4p candidate featherweight fighters.
MW: Hopkins beats Martinez and Williams easily.

To sum up, we have a lot weaker list than we had in 2000. That list was full of legends. I hope in 2020 we will have a stronger list.
