Now that is how you avenge your first loss in style! :deal:

From this day forth Lewis would again be able to say that he vanquished every man he stepped in the ring with professionally. At least until another hiccough in 1999, and then one more in 2001, both corrected, after which he could say it forevermore!

RIP to both Emanuel Steward and HBO WCB.

I am not sure that it is, but I don't blame Lewis for that!

...was referring to Lennox's performance more than Oliver's mental health cirucmstances...

McCall kind of cheated Lewis, by not turning up as he should have.

He tried a bit in the first couple of rounds. I think he quickly realized it was an uphill climb and that precipitated his collapse. He may have come in already in a precarious state but he fought with reasonable intent before the fourth.

LL had that left jab dialed in.

A sad night for boxing McCall had no business being in the ring that night.

He definitely came into the ring in a precarious state.

The fight should never have been sanctioned.

Not taking anything away from Lewis, he could only fight the man put in front of him.

Taking everything into account, McCall was probably lucky that Lewis didn't kill him!

Now the Ramhan rematch, is how you avenge a loss.

Destroy the well prepared opponent brutally, and even manage to drop them in the picture perfect spot!

I'm convinced that Lewis pulled his punches when McCall started the waterworks.

It's actually interesting how Lennox and Ali both have asterisks in *some* of their harder fights. At least in Ali's first career. Liston and Holyfield were old, Patterson and Golota had apparently proven medical issues, McCall had a mental health crisis in the middle of the ring, Terrell suffered an accidental (?) eyepoke, and Cleveland Williams had literally been shot.

Even among the greats, there's a fair helping of luck and timing that goes into these things.

Round 4, Lewis was so confused. Like, wtf is going on? Do I hit him? Is he going to quit? Is it OK if I hit him?

What a weird fight that was.
