Canelo does not have the skills of DLH, FLoyd and Pac but the rest of your post is bullsh it. He's already a bigger PPV star than FLoyd and Pac were at his age.

DLH also had that gold medal to help his popularity. FLoyd and Pac's popularity only surged when they got the W over DLH. And unlike FLoyd, Canelo has retained his popularity even with an L on this record.

Another thing to consider is that Pac and FLoyd not only had good fortune of fighting DLH but also had lots of name fighters to choose from.

Well, Floyd was 28 years old when he had his first PPV which was against Gatti and he grossed 365,000 buys. Canelo's first PPV was with Floyd but his first PPV based on his own drawing power was with Anguelo and it grossed 350 even after his exposure with Floyd. Floyd has never done under 300,000, Here's something for you to clearly chew on, Floyd is more popular than Canelo right now and he is retired. If he came back today with a PPV, it would triple the amount that Canelo just did. Here is something for you to consider, Floyd had Oscar and passed the test, Canelo had Floyd and failed the test.

The more you continue with this the more you will bury yourself.

The reason FLoyd didn't fight in a PPV until he was 28 was because he couldn't draw flies. That fact that FLoyd/Gatti(one of the most popular boxers at the time) did similar numbers to Canelo/Smith(basically unknown, and a fight "nobody" wanted to see) speaks volumes in regards to their popularity.

You are only fooling yourself if you think FLoyd is still popular. HOw many ppvs did he do in his last fight? HOw many fans did he pull for that fight?
The fact is, nobody has wanted anything to do with Pac and Floyd since the "Fight of the Millenium" debacle. As will be further evidenced by the Pac/Vargas PPV.

Naw, I am not talking about the reason but the fact, and the fact is that on his first PPV Floyd grossed more than Canelo in his first PPV without Floyd. I'm not here to speculate just to state the facts. Now you say everybody hated Mayweather after the Pac fight but he drew 400,000 on his way out the door and everybody loves Canelo but he can barely get 300,000.

I think if Canelo had of fought Golovkin by now win lose or draw you'd of seen his star status and selling power shoot up,as a fan of Golovkin I'm supposed to come on here and knock him and Canelo fans do the same for GGG yawn but there's no denying Canelo is the biggest draw right now,his figures are more a reflection on his opposition,I think Oscar genuinely believed the Amir Khan fight would do in excess of a million buys infact he actually said nearer two if I'm not mistaken, fine it didn't do has hoped but the next fight was criminal, how can the public be expected to shell out after seeing Thurman v Porter for free, not only that it was against a bloke even CST80 had probably never heard of.
One has to say though that Golden boy put a lot of money into promoting fights so is 250-300k enough,I'll bet it's nowhere near enough, these two are not Manny and Floyd and the fall of 2017 is OK by me but no longer.

It was all staged to make sure he could fight on the Canelo undercard.

Why wouldn't he be? Canelo fought one of the worst possible opponents and the fight still raked in the $$$.

maybe you didnt get my point. The other poster said Lemieux is a household name in US lol. I said he's not even the biggest name in his hometown. Thats all
I like David, I like his guts, he e entertaining and all, still young, but he s far from a " household name in the US"

GGG+Canelo will not only do Canelo's PPV + GGG's PPV, but will do even more since it will be a big fight in which both will be winners financially.

This is not surprising. Canelo is a Mexican star but not a superstar in American like Oscar wants you to think. Plus who the hell knew Liam Smith?

El Pollo did not draw what Oscar thought he would draw......................Oscar still does not want El Pollo to fight Golovkin, probably will never happen...................
