Oh I remember that one. Hembrick was being heavily hyped coming out of the Olympics and just got annihilated here. Used to TNF practically every week from the early 80s to mid 90s when it ended, as I recall. Good example too of how much better refs were back in those days, before all the squeamishness infested this sport. Fights weren't, thankfully, ended prematurely with the regularity they are today.
Delayed reaction was what I had also, that’s why I brought it up and why I understand him reacting that way. I want to add that I normally never think it’s ok to quit, Ortiz quitting against Maidana was disgraceful for an example. Either way, I’m excited for his next fight and hope he proves me right. Btw Parker vs Joyce is another fight I’m looking forward to.
Vitali went out like a fool on his stool, he quit. And a lot of people give him a pass on that. They even pretend that he didn't lose to Lewis. It's hilarious. Anyway, Dubois will come back and do OK. Maybe not GOAT but OK.
If you consider the WBA "regular" championship to be ok, then he might be ok. Vitali quit due to injury, but he was a skilled fighter. Dubois is a hype job who telegraphs everything he does.
Great fight; I remember it well. TNF was great; Sean "The Champ " O'Grady was a real good commentator and I wish he was around today.
I didn't remember that at all. Sure may be he got him below the belt a coupe times, but nothing in his nuts, and regardless kivalev was looking for a way out of that fight.. Truth be told, Ward broke him mentally in their first fight when he rose from the canvas and fought his way back.. The rematch he just went out there and finished matters breaking kivalev physically
