Yeah, I can see that as a bad downside. I’ve watched boxing matches at the Thomas & Mack Center and the MGM here in Vegas. I’ve sat in the cheap seats. I have yet to try out the new Allegiant Center. I prefer cozy venues like the joint or house of blues for a boxing match.
I’m not saying they have to draw 80,000 but I am saying that they could at least fill it to half capacity.
Like I said earlier, Pacquiao-Clottey drew just under 42,000, including media and guests. 38000+ tickets sold. Spence-Mikey Garcia drew 47,500. Spence is totally carrying this bout; Ugas is no draw whatsoever. So 35,000 is damn good...maybe a couple thousand more on fight njght. Dallas isn't a huge fight town; surely 35-40 thousand is pretty good. Ask me how many attend the Cowboys games...the answer would tell the story.
Average is 93,000 or so per game. They squeezed in 103,000 for the Super Bowl in 2011, a game I attended. Plus there are thousands outside where they have screens set up. Jerry Jones tried for the record by setting up more stands but if I remember correctly those stands collapsed before the game and those ticketholders sued for their money back.
