To be honest, I was in the hunt for a new telly and Comet had an offer on the 40" 3Dtelly, 3D blu-ray player and 2 pairs of glasses for £1000 instead of £1500. So I invested. There is a list of forthcoming 3D blu rays coming out very shortly and the Sky 3D channel has a decent list of forthcoming 3D films and sports events. So 3D will be strongly supported.

Where to buy one? If you have a branch of Best Buy close to you, check them out. They're undercutting Comet, Currys etc to the tune of around £50 million over the next 12 months so check them out.

If, not look out for any offers. I'm sure there will be some shortly.

Which sky channel is 3D? Or is everything 3D if you buy a 3D tv? That's the way it should be.

It's on channel 217. There are 2 different methods of transmitting 3D so you you have to tell them which make your telly is and then they activate the channel to suit.

So for instance, I select channel 217 then alter my telly to 3D mode. I then wear my special 3D glasses - which for my telly cost £59.99 a pair in order to watch in 3D. Without the glasses, you still get the picture but it's blurred slightly to accommodate the 3D transmission.

I agree everything should be 3D but it actually has to be filmed in 3D if that makes sense. Which is why you can't just watch any other channel and view it in 3D.

They launched it yesterday for us domestic customers with the Ryder cup. Monsters vs Aliens was on last night. There are a few more movies coming up over the next few weeks - Bugs, Ice Age and a few I can't remember.

There will be tennis, darts, super-league and the footie, obviously.

There's a Keane studio concert on tonight. And some dance thing that I believe, as a 3D spectacle, is quite impressive.

You might be surprised to learn that as of right now the only 3D blu ray available for purchase is Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. It surprised me, considering the time it's taken to research and lauch 3D that there was so little available to compliment the technology.

your wrong (again) ,works well in the cinema .So the natural progression is to bring it into peoples home's .The up take will be slower than the uptake for digital tv but they are expecting that ,but the more Events in 3d will ensure its longevity.

A 3D T.V is still a full HD unit, so if 3D is an epic fail you haven't really lost anything.

Like I said, I was in the market for a new T.V and plumped for the 3D one that was on sale. There were lesser T.Vs for more money. Mine was a bargain all things considered. :good

What do you think of the 3d then Scouse?
Worth it? Is it tiring? Headaches? What does it add to the viewing experience? Depth of field etc

I like it mate. I watched the Man Utd vs Liverpool game when they repeated it in 3D and it does change the way you view it. It's obviously more impressive when the action is coming at you as opposed to going away.

I, personally haven't noticed any ill effects yet. But I can see some people, potentially, having problems due to the glasses. They are switched on and off you see therefore "flickering" for want of a better explanation.

I can see opinion being divided on 3D to be honest. It's difficult to see how it will change boxing as a spectacle, but I was unsure about 3D from the beginning so what do I know?

I've seen two 3D films and a bit of the Ryder cup - I don't even like golf - the bunker shots were really good. Sky have this 10 minute preview that shows off nature shots - plants, wild animals and the like. That shows the potential of 3D and IS impressive. All in all I reckon it's worth it.

And the kids got bragging rights of being the first in school with a 3D telly!

Maybe they'll start panning towards the fighters during the action?
