The only trouble is Vitali always tested cleanly in the pros.:deal The counterpoint is if everyone is doing it in the 1990's and 2000's, then Vitali's durability was not only tested by bigger and stronger men in general but by those on PED's. Ali's personal physician, Ferdie Pacheco openly stated he injected Ali with all sorts of stuff.
Then why couldn't Foreman drop Ali? Why couldn't Norton? Quarry? Buster Mathis? Lyle? Bugner? Bonavena? Holmes? Berbick?
Maybe they didn't hit as hard as you think that they did? Simple point of fact: Ali got dropped 4 times, Vitali never, not even by bigger men than Ali ever faced. Ergo, a very good case can be made that Vitali is more durable than Ali. Following on THAT, we can also deduce that Foreman is equally unlikely to ever stop Vitali. That is of course without going into the specifics of boxing styles and sheer size, all of which favour Klitschko. He's just not a very good matchup for Foreman.
BCS8, It would be too cruel to mention that Foreman was actually stunned and stumbling by a bad journeyman in Ken Lakusta who was 20-15 during his come back. I know we are talking 1970's here, just saying But in the 1970's Foreman fought 10 fighters with a losing record. Vitali, just one in his entire career.
Pacheco says allot of things but Ali NEVER took steroids as in what is done the past 30 years or so in all of sports. The injections he did take were mainly for his hands which were terrible for a good portion of his career. To try to infer Ali was in any way a steroid user is blatantly false.
Today you have 40 or more top ten contenders. Back in Ali's day this was not the case. Today's boxing world is hopelessly watered down.
Not accurate Perry. Slightly misleading. Ali took things for his kidney's among other things. It wasn't just his hands. You can't say for sure what he took in the 1960's or 1970's isn't banned today. It was common for athletes to take a steroid to recover from injuries, and Ali had some of them. Whether he took something that is banned today is something neither you or I can say for sure.
Foreman got ridiculously sloppy after the first few rounds. Very, very bad at conserving his stamina. If Vitali gets into the mid rounds he takes over and pounds Foreman to a late stoppage, but Foreman getting the KO early is equally plausible.
What can be said though is that Ali never cycled on and off PED's. If what you say is true then if wouldn't have any affect on Ali's performance because he never took them long enough or consistently enough to get the benefits.
Yes, the film shows us that. Vitali wasn't easy to hit and moved around. I'd heavily back him to beat the Foreman-Ali fought. He was open, tired, and lacked steam on his punches in the mid rounds. Foreman vs Lyle was epic, but he was gassed there too. It's like he was punching in slow motion at times.
In the pros that is. He was thrown off the amateur olympic team for testing positive. You're cherry picking information. You don't take ped's and all of a suddenly come off then retain your skill set an size. I could say that Ali never tested positive for steroids. It would be true. The only major steroid that was around in Ali's time was Dianabol. That provides more bulk. Doesn't improve speed or stamina.
