For a peak Tyson to beat any version of 70's Ali,you've got to look at '76 and onwards.

Muhammad would have used totally different tactics against Tyson than he did against Foreman. This is yet another factor in Ali's favour. He could adapt to different situations, and Tyson could n't.

tyson on points the tyson from the berbick fight wouldnt punch himself out like foreman did and to lay on the ropes against 86 _ 88 tyson would be suicidal no one was as lethal up close as he was .

Rudi Lubbers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, two fights before George Foreman (a border-line Top 20 Heavyweight)
Joe Frazier,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,one fight before George Foreman (a one-armed and worn Joe)

Mike Tyson by decision, clear-cut and convincing.

He was that good after all? He sure looked like a rank amateur in that fight. One of the most boring I've ever seen.

Rope a dope with prime Tyson,i dont think that will be good for Ali.Tyson much quicker and acurate than Foreman in close range.

    Very simple and well-stated.

If little Alfredo Evangilista could back-up Muhammad Ali,,,,,,,?

If Ali is allowed to clinch 147 times like he did over 12 rounds in Frazier II, then he takes the decision.

    Otherwise, Tyson UD, 7-5.

well tyson didn't like to fight inside,so he wouldn't complain about clinches :smoke
ali schools him and stops him late..actually tyson mentally falls apart and quits

The Evangelista fight took place in '77. The Ali of this thread (three years earlier) was a very different animal, who would have stopped Evangelista at any moment he chose to.

Stevie,,,,,,,Are you saying the Uruguay-based fighter Evangilista wasn't as good as
    Rudi Lubbers.

Not at all. In all fairness to Ali though,he was nursing his right hand throughout the Lubbers fight, and fought virtually one handed. Unremarkable minor fight in the Ali canon. The only outstanding thing about it was Ali giving inter round interview to Reg Gutteridge.

Based on previous performances, it looks like Mke Tyson by a decision.
    No knockdowns or knock-out here.

Both fighters with great skills, and hand speed.
Could see some frustration in Tyson.
But Ali would not be able to get away with grabbing behind the head, with the
massive neck muscles of Mike Tyson.
Mike way too strong and quick.
