Everyone of the 80's except Prime Mike Tyson wouldn't even have a chance today against bums like Pianeta or Price.
everyone mentions those 4/5 because those were all ATG legandary fighters who FOUGHT EACHOTHER. there are plenty of other ATGs spread amongst the sports weight classes (and even some that did not fight the fab 4/5 but competed in the same division)
every time I come on here it seems that the collective boxing IQ has dropped . . . boxing was at its pinnacle in the 80s and has been on a steady decline ever since. that does not mean that there have not been great fighters since only that there were far more greats back then
The only thing outdated is the lists. They've posted that Ken Norton died so that's pretty current as far as I'm concerned. But yes, it wouldn't hurt for them to take into account what's transpired over the last 7 years in terms of updating their lists.
Sorry, I did go right to the lists. I now see the rest is updated. They'd be better off taking the dates off the lists. Sorry man!
Hagler's resume is loaded with great fighters who would have become much more famous had they not been brutally knocked out by Marvelous Marv. Hagler fought a bunch of Philadelphia fighters who would be champions in today's era, but he made them look bad.
Duran AND Hagler were actually both feared, elite fighters during the 70's and continued their warpaths into the 80's. The Fab 4 is actually made up of basically universally regarded as the greatest lightweight(Duran), top 3 welter (Leonard), jr middle (Hearns), middleweight (Hagler), and should actually be called the Fab 5 with the greatest 140lber ever with Benitez.
