    I don't even know where to begin.

    Anyone care to make a top ten list of sure-thing prospects who never fulfilled their potential?

    This is obviously very subjective.

    Chuck Davey

    Mac Foster
    Charley Mitchell
    George Godfrey (both of them)

    Luis Gonzalez the giant....he was all hype.

    Paul Gonzalez--1984 US gold medalist from East LA...he got killed as a pro via Orlando Canizales. He was the first Golden Boy...16-4-0 with 3 ko's

    Cooney was actually considered as being beyond his prospect stage by the time he fought Holmes.. He was more of a contender at the time, but still.

    watching old tapes hes pretty hyped up but i didnt think that much of him, he beat a fairly lacklustre Basilio and then gave a brave showing against Gavilan but was way over his head

    Corrie Sanders - amazing handspeed, serious power, decent chin and a lot of heart...but preferred golfing and drinking to training.

    A couple of middles from the 80's. Alex Ramos of the Bronx who was a top amateur. Alex was a good fighter and he had a solid career but he didn't make it at the highest level as was expected.
    A contemporary of his, in fact they boxed a draw "Irish" John Collins. A decent fighter and a crowd favourite. Collins got out after 2 crushing defeats against Tony Sibson and Robbie Simms.
    Here's the Sibson fight. This was really supposed to be Collins' big night. it was Sibsons first fight after the abortive attempt for the world title against Marvin Hagler.
