Disturbing to think someone like Burley who KO'd guys like Elmer Ray could make 140lbs in the JCC era.

Roger was ahead in that 2nd fight and was giving Chavez all he could handle.
Floydd is a much better on defense then his uncle was.

I wouldn't go quite as far to say Roger was ahead, and your the only one I've ever seen that thought Roger was ahead on points vs Chavez. But your entitled to your opinion, but I do agree he did better in the rematch and was competitive for 6 rounds. But after 6th round Roger was fading and Chavez was breaking him down.

I mean you could use same argument for Castillo, but Castillo actually did alot better as alot of people thought he beat Mayweather, and even though Mayweather did win rematch without controversy, it still wasn't a blowout Castillo won 4 or 5 rounds.

Very good call buddy, and plausible, shame but Benitez isn't mentioned all that much on here, well not in the 2 years I have been a member, could it be that the others,SRL, Duran, Hearns, and Hagler eclipsed him somewhat ? seems to me the only time he is talked about is due to his ailing health, sad.... stay safe amigo.

Intresting answer. But Randall got him in 1994 when he was slipping.
This Version is at least 5 years younger. And a lot can happen in boxing in 5 years..

Weii it was a bit of a joke I guess.

Can't see Ross beating him, much as I am a fan of his. I think Whitaker could, and Duran. Not Pryor. I give Cervantes more of a shot than him.

Yep, right there is the classic suoerfight, Duran V Chavez. I've thought about that one and I lean too a great fight, with Duran getting a split decision.
Definitely don't think there's gonna be a ko anyway.

Cervantes with the counter punching could really make it a closer fight than some think.

There's actually quite a few guys at 140 that could beat him, he was much more vulnerable past 135 pounds.

I agree. I can't see Pryor doing it. No one who dives in with his chin up like that survives against Chavez. Cervantes moves, jabs, and has enough pop in his rangy shots to frustrate Julio for a while. Not to mention that he had a champio's head on his shoulders too. With extensive knowledge of pacing, distance, all that. I give him a great shot.
