Both comments are very good and prove alot of things. One cannot say the other is wrong because it all goes down to loyalty. I personally wouldn't have the heart to get a gold medal with the team that doesn't know me then a bronze medal with the team that has been with me through thick n thin.
I was going to reply telling you to stop being a tit and just choose, but this post reminds me of the situation I'm in with my rugby team - move to the next team up or stick with my friends that have got me to my current skill level. Even if we don't win every match I still enjoy playing with that team over the arrogant higher level guys. If I want to be my best I have no choice but to leave my current team and progress to better teams. You have the same situation from what you've said. It's a tough decision to make. It comes down to how serious you're going to take things in the furture.
OFCOURSE non my point and his pont are neither right or wrong its just opinion. You do know that when you box at international level you don't train with the same team you did before yes? Thats the main reason i dont find loyalty a situation. Out of curiousity your not in a situation where you have to choose yet are you? My best advice would be don't think about it until you have to and follow your heart. Wheather your heart leans towards selfishness for success or loyalty you won't know untill then
You are a kid still, you don't understand the concept of loyalty. One day you may understand when you mature. You most likely don't have a relationship with your trainer in which you trust him 100%. I can never turn my back on my teammates, and my coaches. I actually moved to a house closer to my gym, so I can train in the same gym. You do make a good point that success is very important, and you need to worry about yourself, but you need to go with your instincts, and whatever will benefit yourself and your family in the long run. This has worked for me: 1. God, 2. Family, 3. Self.
Why bring in the age? lol You make a good point but when you become an international boxer you don't train with your trainer anymore you train with the countries squad team (trainers, nutritionists etc) so that wouldnt really matter.
Well in the U.S. you still train with your original trainers also. The point about age is because when I was a teenager I was a selfish person, and know many other teens who are selfish. I changed when I matured and now I care about other things. Its not a knock against you or anything, don't take it the wrong way you are a good poster.
Its well known that Calzaghe was not allowed to make the Olympic team. Roy Jones had to win numerous box-offs. I know of a guy who had citizenship from a small Caribeaan country and he went to the Olympics, wrong weight class, lost in the first round. but he got the chance. How many fights have you had? Why worry about this now?
Thanks for the comments guys, they are too many to reply to one by one but its great seeing so many different angles for such a delicate situation. Opinion is opinion and i respect each n every one of yours. I was asked this question by my coach and i said 'You were there for me through thick n thin, so you'll be there for me when i succeed' and in my opinion, that was the right answer. People's thoughts change due to various factors. My background is a very rough one and i've lost the most important people in my life, this forced me to mature faster than kids my age (im 16 and pretty much live alone, clean, cook) and pity is something i hated. I never want people to pity me, i don't want people saying 'Aww thats Juxhin the kid who bla bla' i want them to say 'Thats Juxhin, the kid who made it through' and thats what i achieved with this team. Chal made a very nice comment there, 1. God 2. Family 3. Self. Even though i don't have the #1 and #2 i still believe yourself should ever be a top priority. Great comments though boys thanks
