Boxing seems to be unique in that being the best man on the night seems to carry you forever in the eyes of some fans. I suppose more so due to the fact that rematches happen much less regularly these days.

Ward is riding high (waaaaay too high IMO) in p4p status despite doing nothing to be regarded as such in about 3 years! Did he leave his, ahem, 'crushed' opponents forever altered and worse fighters...? Hell no, he's not that special at all. His wins are sketchy with a lot of rule bending IMO. As for people suggesting beating a 168lb Dawson gives one some claim to be 2nd best boxer on the planet....well....that's just farcical for me.

Essentially, why does boxing keep representing and respecting Ward when he doesn't represent boxing itself...you know...by actually competing!
