I am glad to hear that the two becaem friends, since the fights for a tiem left some bitterness- the acusations of illegal substances and all. RIP champ. Boxing has lost one of its greatest ever.
Okay, now we are gettin' somewhere..... I agree........ Look, I am still freaked by the death of my man David Carradine from jerkin' off in the closet with a rope or lace..... As embarrassing as it is, he chose his path of demise........ What can I do?? :hat:huh MR.BILL
The man was 100% pure ****in CLASS as a boxer & as a Gentleman, i met him 20 years ago at the Sands in Vegas the night before the 3rd Duran/Leonard fight & i nervously asked him if he would care 2 join me & me mates 4 a drink in the champions bar as it was our 1st time in Vegas, he obliged & stayed an hour with the 4 ov us & enlightning us 2 the ways ov the real boxing world, never forget it or him, I've just found me pic us all ov us with alexis in the champs bar in the Sands, i'd apprieciate some help in getting the image up.
cool experience. i met pryor at the chavez vs whitaker fight and had a beer with him. he mentioned that he kept in touch with arguello. i was surprised by how much scar tissue his face had up close.
One of the classiest boxers and one of the best of all times. Why the good ones always gotta go so fast? :-(
A very popular figure in and out of the ring Alexis was one of the best Latin fighter he left boxing for a while to join the Sandinista rebels later when they took power they confiscated all his properties including his Gym. After booting the Sandinistas out of power thru elections he was able to recuperate his properties later he joined them and was elected Mayor of Managua his dead is the talk of the boxing community he left 8 kids from multiple marriages RIP Alexis.
I have been asking Team Pryor for interviews and such and Frankie explained that Aaron is "inconsolable". Totally understandable. No matter how Alexis died, a part of boxing died today.
You God Damn right it did, and one of the finest parts. There simply are not enough adjectives in the English language to appropriately describe Alexis Arguello, The Champion, The Warrior, The Man. He cannot be replaced.
One of the few positive things you see when boxers die is this strong bond that develops between them and their biggest rivals. It's quite touching actually. My heart goes out to Mr. Pryor. It sounds as if he is very sad at the loss of his friend.
That really sucks. Arguello RIP. I've always liked how he fought in the ring, always fun to watch....... his tapes will live on.
