Pryor would outhustle and outwork him I feel. I think it would be close but Mayweather wouldn’t be willing enough to get Pryor’s respect enough to stop him.
But I think Pryor was the much better fighter. He was more powerful, faster and more versatile than Ricky Hatton. Pryor had size disadvantages against almost every opponent.
The way I see it, if Aaron comes out fired up, and he usually does, then I see him pushing Floyd to his limits and beyond and when that happens, the fighter is forced out of his comfort zone starts to lose his composure. I really dont see Aaron following Floyd around the ring, playing right into his hands and taking shots on the way in and, never finding an opening, and calmly settling for a points loss like a brainless canelo Pryor will get to him, repeatedly rough him up, and ruffle his feathers for another inspired late round tko
He fought a blown up 130 in a his marquee fight who never did much at 140. He wouldn't be able to have Panama Lewis feed him stimulants in the championship rounds against Mayweather either.
This is a good matchup for Pryor. I think he'd have a good shot here. He was fearless, had a granite chin, had plenty of pop and his stamina was immense. Floyd might not be able to let his hands go enough under this sort of relentless attack. Pryor would be coming at him from all sorts of heights and angles as well, which would stifle his brilliant counterpuncher at times. He doesn't have the power of a Duran to back Pryor off or wear him down. I could see Pryor potentially winning a competitive decision.
You mentioned the awkward angles Pryor would fire from. That could trouble a technically perfect fighter like Mayweather. Aaron also had quickness of his own.
Exactly, the unorthodox here is an asset. Pryor had a good blend of speed and power. He gets open and off balance but i don't think Floyd has the power to take advantage, unlike a Duran for instance.
