If either guy gets a highlight reel KO, I think they'll get the appropriate props.
A dull points decision though will damn both guys.

So long as they bring the excitement then they'll get the praise.
Someone needs to make a statement!

Don King will doing everything within his power to create a win for Peter. Jose "The Bandit" Sulaiman has to obey his master.

    Well Suge,

Wlad owns two belts, and if Peter beats Maskaev, he will hold a win over a current champion. So one could argue he unified the belts, and beat the best contender who is also a WBC champion.

Get used to it. Wlad is the heavyweight king.

But Peter will be the lineal champ in your book, right? So we will have a sort of Tyson-Spinks situation, no doubt leading to an early blow-out of Peter sometime in 2009.

Nah, Don King would never let that happen. Remember when he had all belts under control? We did not see any unification fights back then, so no way in hell King would risk his only belt (if he gets it that is).

True, but Peter beating Wlad would raise the prospect of King being able to fragment 3 belts and have near complete division dominance again. That's a tempting prospect, considering the fact that Peter was close to stopping Wlad in their last fight.

Never ever... unless Kings gets options on Klitschko if Klitschko wins.

if they mentioned Klitschko is the most recognized champ...they would be stating a fact....what would be wrong with that? Also, they were interested in Maskaev Rahman. but honestly who was interested in Maskaev Okhello?

You don't get it, much to no surprise.

Don King didn't match Byrd against Ruiz because it's Byrd against Ruiz! Who will pay for that nonsense?

Instead he matched all of his more popular stable of fighters against the champions in hopes they'd take the titles. Golota, McCline, Rahman, etc. He didn't want to do unification until the belts were in the hands, at least partially, of more popular fighters. In the meantime more money could be made putting the real stars against the champions.

Also don't forget who brought you Holyfield-Tyson. Don King. Don King has single handidly been responsible for the majority of title unifications that have happened over the last 3 decades.

Agreed, I might be the minority, but I dont think Don King is part of the heavyweight problem, he tries his best to promote fights the best he can, but some of his fighters wont work with him. Don King wanted to make Valuev a beast, a vicious man in and out of the ring, Valuev told King he dont want to be potrayed like that, so I think thats part of the reason he isnt as popular, and I have only seen him on T.V. twice, against Barret and Chagaev.

King's no worse than all the other ones, he's just in the spotlight more.

What does Holyfield vs. Tyson have to do with unification? You seem to be even more of an idiot than I imagined.... is that even possible?

You know that's right! I can't wait until this happens. I see Juan outworking the 35 year old tho. Campbell is always entertaining. Diaz will start pulling away after the 6th.

I already clarified it a couple of times, I'm suspicious of HBO's motives in showing the fight. I expect them to say that the winner of the bout will be some sort of lesser champion...even if OLEG and Sam deliver with a competitive bout, it's not in HBO's interest to show them in a positive light.
HBO is only about what's good for them...at the expense of boxing. Remember Jermaine Taylor's terribly recent fraudulent title victory and defenses...???

I hope they call it differently, than their low standards dictate.
