****ing joke that. Sergio DID NOT win that fight. Hope Golovkin or someone else blasts him into retirement now. The way he carried on in that fight was a joke. Tried his best to get Murray deducted a point and it seems it worked.
I thought the cut was caused by a forearm cuff from Murray but the footage wasnt that clear. It's not right but its a given that if you go and fight a p4p lister and hbo fighter in their home town that most of the close rounds and refereeing decisions are going to go against you. Murray knew that and if he had just upped the pressure in some of the close rounds he could have maybe swung it his way. He may have a bit to feel aggrieved about but I think more than anything he'll wish he went for it just a bit more.
He didn't lose a point though, did he? I know they mentioned it on commentary, but I never saw the ref motion to the judges about deducting a point.
And the commentary said that the ref hadn't deducted the point too. If it had been on the cards I'm sure Murray or his team would have mentioned it by now. He lost fair and square in a close fight. So many babies crying over every close decision that doesn't go their guy's way. Not you, obviously Kos!
I don't think it was that bad, I couldn't really split them. I felt Murray was a bit too cautious at times though.
I believe they were only mentioning it so much about being a possible point deduction because it had happened in the Abregu fight beforehand. I did think Murray sneaked it, however. Obviously not a 'robbery' though
Have to say taking a point of Abregu was harsh there although it didn't amount to anything but the first few rounds it was a very awkward fight. Strange that Lederman I think mentioned that rule applies outside the US.
There's nothing wrong to my mind having it a point either way or a draw. But I think a lot of people have been swayed by the fact Murray did better than expected and Sergio looked so crap for most of the fight. That all said, Martinez has been on the painful end of some bad decisions so I can't begrudge him getting the benefit of the doubt in a very close fight.
