Yup I agree, Valero probably won't even last a round against a legitimate heavy banger himself. Let's not get ahead of ourselves putting Valero in mythical matchups with guys who have tested themselves against other top fighters. He was in a near-death situation against Vicente Mosquera, and that is the most notable fight in his ledger up to now. Hopefully with Texas allowing him to fight we will truly see how El Inca measures up to the rest of the junior feather and lightweight mix. Not too soon though as his next scheduled bout is on June 15 against Israel Perez, 23-1-0 (12 KO's) with no recognizable opposition himself. I am sure Teiken/GBP can secure fights for Valero with guys like Juarez, Velazquez even Barrios, but why they continuously feed him tomato cans even at this stage of his career baffles me. He doesn't have the power some people credit him with. Nobuhito Honmo was walking through his punches and destroying this very myth when the referee, what do you know, decided to consult the doctor on the Japanese' cut. The fight was stopped but Honmo win or lose, would have most likely stopped Valero's KO streak that night. As Valero has stepped up however slightly his competition, the one-punch knockout he has built his reputation on has become more and more a distant memory. Zavaleta had the nasty habit of crouching vulnerably low whenever he gets hurt on the ropes, but Valero wasn't able to produce that picture-perfect one shot knockout. Linares even one-upped him in that department with his victory over Diaz.
Freitas TKO in literally a minute or two. The two aren't comparable in anything, including power (unless Valero proves that his power is great, which I doubt he will).
great post i like valero i just see him not being on popo's level or even barrios level yet from what i've seen. and really who can't look good in sparring
Mismatch Freitas would hold just about every possible advantage that would come into play. He'd win by early KO.
Freitas was in most people's top 10 pound for pound list after he beat Casamayor and after he became a 3 times world champ.
Against today's version of Valero, Popo would win by forfeit. Trust me, Edwin wouldn't even come out of his dressing room.
