He had all the potential at that time. Hell, I even liked him early on, thought he was a bit funny with his trash talk. As if he didn't take himself too serious. Then he bought in to his own BS, stopped giving 100%. Shame really.
Maybe not to the boxing purest but the worldstarhiphop crowd loved this dude. He was the bridge for the young guys coming up using online platforms. No other fighter was doing that in 2011 and 2012. Not in boxing, MMA, kickboxing, or pro wrestling and now you can tweet to the fighter of your choice but Broner was first.
The Maidana fight is my favorite fight from Broner. It showed his true heart and he finally realized his corner was useless because they gave him no coaching whatsoever. He was literally alone against Maidana and the entire Garcia family and he stood in there and fought to the end. He was getting his ass kicked though but he was still throwing, hell, Broner fought Maidana better than Floyd did I'll argue anyone on that.
Broner finished that fight really strong and hurt Maidana at some point in the last two rounds. If only they had had rematch. I think Broner could have take in it. That bad start was what cost him big time.
