Afolabi's first defence of his IBO title, was looking forward to a couple of domestic fights like Bellew or Mkenzie, but he has to travel to Germany to fight Huck again, they do produce good fights, but is this not one too many? How does everybody else feel about this? Wouldn't be so bad if the fight was in Britain so he had a fair shake.
i might be wrong but isn't afolabi promoted an managed in germany? i don't think he can sell tickets to the point where he was a paid sparring partner for a lot of his early career to make up his wages. a german manager/promoter isn't going to set up a show in britain when its easier to sell it in germany off the back of huck who can sell tickets and if he gets the win can make the manager/promoter more money in the long term.
Would have liked to have seen Afolabi get an easy ride for a little while, the guy hasn't been given anything in his career, but in reality he would be incapable of selling out an arena of any note in the UK so Germany was the best financial option.
Agree with both posts suppose he isn't that well known in the UK, but like beachie said would like to see him get a couple easy defences, he deserves it.
Ola Afolabi vs Tony Bellew? That would constitute an easy defence for Afolabi; everyone knows Bellew can't blow people out at fringe world level and upwards (even though he promises it every fivht, and ends up looking like a pillock when he fails to back it up).
