    Well he lost his ww defence in the rematch to leonard... He lost his lmw defence in the fight with hearns... He vacated his mw title to challenge leonard at smw.

    All this is easily verified on boxrec, you should use it more often.

    This. Defending titles was a bit mainsteam for a hipster like Roberto. Why be a square like Larry Holmes when he could be a wandering fighting minstrel, touring the weight classes?

    The WBA didn't have a stake in it because their Champ was named "Vacant" and not on the card.
