When I first watched the fight as it happened I had Calzaghe winning by a big margin. He was simply busier and seemingly outworked Hopkins. But having watched the fight since I realised that many of the shots I thought Calzaghe had landed actually either missed or landed on the gloves and shoulders of Hopkins. Also Hopkins actually landed the cleaner shots, it's just they were so sneaky and usually inbetween a Calzaghe salvo that they were hard to spot. I now think Hopkins did enough to win though I have no problem with those who scored it for Calzaghe as that was my initial opinion having watched the fight first time around.
I thought Hopkins beat Calzaghe, on a round-by-round basis. But Calzaghe won his rounds bigger. It was a bad, awkward fight by both fighters' standards.
horrible close fight. i had hopkins by 1 but didn't care that he didn't get the decision after the spoiling and faking. watching this fight a 2nd time was one of the hardest things ive ever done.
hopkins dominated early rounds by outboxing Joe's limited skills arsenal, but Joe took it by massive output/low hitrate when Bernard was too gassed to do anything. thing is, even with hop throwing and landing 4-5 hurtful punchs in any given few minutes, calzaghe was throwing twenty misses and ten punches of little effect. On this basis, although Zaghes was getting outskilled and outboxed, he was having a higher strike rate albeit with no apparent effect...whereas Bernard was mushing Zaghes face with each connection.
I thought Nard won but since he started so late....he kind of screwed himself. Without a doubt the rounds Nard won were more emphatic and clear than any of the rounds Joe took with activity.
yep even though bernard inflcited more damage, boxing is scored on blows landed, including contentious ones to a degree, especially when little is offered in return when the grandad is too gassed to return fire. Joe sure knows when to wait and then pick his fights. Awesome cherrypicking skills, but it nearly all went wrong with Bhop who was vastly more skilled than him. just two years earlier and Zaghes would have been ****ed.
B-Hop was robbed in that fight. Calzaghe retried so he'd never have to fight Hopkins again. It's a sad way for Joe to go out with so many questions hanging over his career.
Vast majority? Nonsense. If that was the case if would've been a robbery. Why am I even replying to a spastic? You get can gtfo too.
