Hah. How many flaws this guy has; poor footwork, wide open for counters, poor stamina, he's anything but a polished technician. Put a guy like hopkins in fornt of him and he gets schooled bigtime.

I know nobody has been able to beat him yet (Miranda makes a case though) but his competition isn't that good.

His main (and probably only) assets are huge power and a difficult-to-penetrate double guard. Possibly adding a granite chin to that.
Marquez with his stupid game-plan:patsch. Pressuring Abraham:bart :huh

You should let AA come to you and than counter him to death. He can only unload his bazooka power punches if you stand right in front of him.

This guy is so beatable. But it has to be done by the right man. Unfortunately his managament won't let him in anytime soon with such a man imo.

    Peace

Abrahm is beatable and there are guys with the right style to do so, Sturm for example. Thing is, his power gives him at the very least a 30% chance of winning. Hopkins would beat him but at mw I can´t see anyone beating him, Pavlik and Sturm have a chance but they wouldn´t be favourites.

i agree... outside of his power, im not too impressed with him as a fighter. But its worked for him... I think Taylor would outbox him if Taylor went back down, and Hopkins... pfffff..

Would love to see AA vs Pav and Sturm though

I think he beats sturm, and Pav maybe stops him...

But he makes AA interesting because hes a major player whos undefeated... i just hope major fights are coming.

How did you work that one out exactly?

Marquez had no reach, what do you want him to do, stay outside? Marquez's only chance was to get close and outwork Abraham. If he stays outside Abraham just picks him off with power shots, Marquez wouldnt have been able to land anything at all, nothing, nada.

I agree with Taylor, Kessler would also beat him. The highlighted part I see the other way round. After their last outings I pick Sturm to beat AA and Pavlik getting knocked out by AA.

I´ma a fan of Arthur, Pavlik and Sylvester and I like Sturm and Taylor. So, mw is the place to be for me right now

Leowe... ya i can see how middle is the glory class for you lol ;)

I think in a Pavlik vs AA fight, Pavlik would have a very stationary target (exactly what pavlik likes) and will line up his one two, and simply outwork AA through 12 rounds... AA is a good puncher, but not as much a good fighter and even less an actual good boxer....

Pavlik gets beaten so far it seems by movement, generalship, ect... and BOXING... AA is no Hopkins, and his defence still provides a target to punch at (which works for normal middles... but pavliks punches are hardly normal)

So i think Pavlik simply outworks AA in more rounds... and i think he can bust through AA's guard sometimes too, AA just doest work enough for me to pick him over a world class champion like Pavlik.

i agree i think Kessler rips him up

I hope the fights get made though... not so much the kessler fight but the Pavlik/sturm fights...

You are right! A slick, fast-feeted, defensive counter-puncher schould be able to beat him. Put who really fits that profile at 160? Sturm probably still has the best chance, if he doesn't panic. Pavlik would have to drastically alter his style to have a chance and I don't see that happening. Taylor's stamina is too bad, he would not be able to stay away from AA for 12 rounds...

I think the problem is, if Pavlik can penetrate AA's guard. He won't be able to do so just by throwing straight hands. He will ahve to get closer and get some hooks in and that is when AA will explode. The thing is, I don't see Pavliks chin holdin up. I think somewhere arround round 8-10 AA could end this.

Well, but Pavlik would do exaclty what Abraham wants him to do: come to him and give him openings to counter. Kelly has a leaky defence and a dentable chin and with Abraham´s power I see a knockout happen. I can see Kelly winning an UD over Abraham but there´s no way Pavlik stops him.

Didn't land 1 punch? Marquez possibly injured Abraham's ribs.

He's got amazing power though, better than Pavlik. Miranda was battered by Pavlik, the accumulation of punches took their toll. Against Abraham it was 1 punch that knocked him out and then single punches put him on his ass hard each time. Marquez when felt Abrahams power grimmaced in pain and after 6 rounds decided he doesnt want more of that. His downside is stamina and tactic. He covers up and absorbs punches before delivering his own. It works against most but that would be the wrong tactic for Pavlik.

First of all: Could be, but this thread is not about Pavlik. Pavlik has a totally different style and other good and bad qualities which ask for a different analysis.

Second, Marquez didn't land a lot of punches because we are talking Marquez here for Christ sake.

By punching on his gloves and forearms all night long?

I see your point though. :good

From the start Marquez had like a 1% chance of winning. Whatever kind of tactics he used.
