LOL at those who thought Chavez was being effective. He was effective in making floyd "fight" and pretty much kick his ass. Floyd just kept touching him and touching him not really putting power in his shots Chavez was just in there trying to land whatever he could.
people get confused.. because let me not speak like its impossible that cotto beat floyd... but anything can happen... but most recently floyds fight since hes become a super star hatton-oscar-baldomir-zab all of these fights werent as filled with action and as rough n tumble as some of floyd earlier fights that show how truly skilled floyd is... really they were cake walks more or less cottos most recent fights on the other hand gomez-mosley-zab-urkal-quintana are all very physical and action fights and cotto continually improves... so if you were just subjected to seeing these last 4-5 fights from cotto and floyd ... you would probably think cotto is better than floyd... you have to go back and watch what floyd can do to truly understand his skill level
exactly.. chavez barely hits floyd in those exchanges.. floyd picks OFF EVERYTHING and counters with right hand uppercuts comparable to floyd though? just look @ It like this.... i cant say anything bout the quintana fight because the only time i saw it is when it first happened but malignaggi took cotto to 12 .. yes he got scorched but hes way smaller than cotto and not as good on defense as floyd.. realistically alot of that fight malig didnt box but he exchanged with cotto.. he say that in an interview and says that was his biggest mistake shane is also a slick boxer.. but when he chose to stand across from cotto he would lose those rounds. when he fought cotto while moving the fight was easy.. shane figured that out later on in the fight and thats why cotto was on the run for the last 2-3 rounds... he was so far ahead he didnt want to risk losing the fight because shane had figured him out
Back at the subject at hand because I know people get mad when I take the thread to a different direction. Cotto's win over Zab really told me alot about Cotto ... (in a good way)
I wouldn't say it's impossible. You just need someone offensively gifted, in a sense that some fighters do not fight on a rhythm or change up their rhythm. If you have soemone who is that versatile, and with enough decent defense, I can see Floyd having trouble. See, this is just my opinion... but although JUDAH dismantled Junior Witter, I see his switch hitting style somewhat fitting for Floyd. Floyd cannot possibley cover all angles at once, and due to the constant shifting of angles, offense, power hands, etc... that would not allow him the full capacity of his defense. The only downside is junior witter would be smashed by Floyd because of Floyd's laser-like accuracy. Why do you guys think?
most definitely.... you cant take a thing away from cotto... hes so strong willed during his fights and focus level is unbeliveable.... i think around that point i felt that it was impossible for cotto to lose to any body but floyd i personally felt cotto n mos was a draw.... for what i remember of the fight shane for some reason didnt chose to fight cotto on the move but stay directly across from him and in alot of those exchanges he would lose... when he would fight on the move it gave cotto a lot of trouble haha bad choice.. i dont think so but who knows anything is possible i guess and it wont happen anyway
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo http://youtube.com/watch?v=ecEVbJ7jklY your a goddamn liar if you say zab never shook cotto around 3:20 on the youtube timer.. if zab continued throwing that punch with some jabs mixed in he had a chance
I have to disagree with you on that Walk with me ... Cotto pulled out that victory and further proved that Mosley isn't a boxer and never was. Just because he had speed and quick movements fundamentally Mosley was not and is not a box. He doesn't have much of a jab ... no good side to side movement ... he has a hard time keeping his hands up ... defense is really non existant ... he just a brawler with fast hands.
